EQUINE INSURANCE INSIGHTS:

A Word on Pre-Existing Conditions

Horse insurance and human health insurance differ in a few key ways: equine insurance will generally exclude Pre-Existing conditions, whereas our health insurance will cover them. This is why Medical coverage for horses is much cheaper than our health insurance!

Congenital issues or injuries that pre-exist each policy period will likely be excluded from the coverage that year. Every horse is assessed on a case-by-case basis, and the underwriting company will make the final decision. The more information & detail you can provide, the better!

As always, keep good records. Some exclusions can be removed after a certain amount of time, depending on the issue. There's a possibility of having coverage on the issue the following year.
