Drane Farm Equipment is located on our farm in Locust Hill, KY, 4.5 miles south of Harned, Kentucky. Our business was started in the early 70’s by my grandfather, R.C. "Bobby" Drane. Trading had been instilled in him by his father, Vic, who traded horses, goats, pigs, etc. My Grandfather started with nothing and everything he had, he worked for. Bobby and Norma, his wife, saved every penny they could to build their farm to what it is today. The farm was his main priority, but his desire for equipment trading wouldn’t go away. He would buy a few implements or tractors here and there and line them up along the road. Thus, the business began. He sold new Vermeer balers in the late 70’s and then proceeded to sell other used implements on through the 1980’s and 90’s.

His son, and my Father, Bruce, began buying for the business in the late 80’s. His buying and trading was responsible for the largest growth we had ever achieved. We kept this a part time business until June of 1999, when my Grandfather got me (Kevin) really involved in the business. A phone was installed in the shop and business hours were established. My father and I made several changes to the business and it has since flourished.

My grandfather died in August of 2003 and we continue to take pride in several things Grandfather taught us — Honesty, Integrity, and "sticking to a man’s word will always make things go the right way."

Drane Farm Equipment is now managed by Bruce and his two sons, Kevin and Travis. We handle a two acre resale lot with asking prices written on each item. We also have seven acres of salvage combine and hay equipment in the "R C Drane Salvage Yard." Breaking salvage items down is a goal of ours for the future, but until then we offer farmers the incentive to remove the parts they need from the salvage yard at a fraction of the cost.

We invite you to come out to our location and see what we have available for your farming needs. You won’t be disappointed.
